From December 15 to 17, 2025, Ding Kuiling, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), led a university delegation on a visit to Singapore. During the visit, the delegation visited the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), conducted a review of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Graduate School Singapore, and attended the unveiling ceremony of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University International Technology Transfer Southeast Asia Center. On behalf of SJTU, President Ding also met with members of the university’s Singapore Board of Directors, alumni representatives, and distinguished members of society, including Lin Lianxing, Wu Jiong, Shen Xi, Guan Guoguang, and Li Yixian.
On the morning of December 16, the delegation paid a special visit to alumnus Lin Lianxing.

On the afternoon of December 16, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University International Technology Transfer Southeast Asia Center was officially established in Singapore. President Ding Kuiling and Han Jun, Minister-Counsellor of the Education Office at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Singapore, jointly unveiled the center. Relying on the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Graduate School Singapore, the center will actively promote in-depth cooperation with Southeast Asian countries in scientific research, education, and industry, enhancing the university’s international influence in the region. Through the Southeast Asia Center, SJTU will continue to advance patent exchanges, joint research, and joint entrepreneurial initiatives with leading Southeast Asian institutions such as Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore.

On the morning of December 17, President Ding Kuiling met with Li Yixian, Chairman of Business China Singapore. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions and reached a consensus on areas of cooperation including joint talent cultivation, commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and the co-establishment of high-level international forums.


Later that morning, the signing ceremony of a strategic cooperation agreement between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) was held at SUTD. Han Jun, Minister-Counsellor of the Education Office at the Chinese Embassy in Singapore; Dai Lixiang, Vice President of SUTD; and Ding Kuiling, President of SJTU, witnessed the signing. Both sides expressed their commitment to leveraging the synergy between their educational philosophies and institutional strengths to promote practical, in-depth, and long-term cooperation in education, research, and talent development.


Prior to the signing ceremony, Minister-Counsellor Han Jun and President Ding Kuiling, together with their delegation, visited the Design AI Maker Laboratory (DAI Fab Lab) at SUTD to gain an in-depth understanding of the university’s achievements in teaching and research related to design, artificial intelligence, and innovative practice. 

During the visit, President Ding and his delegation also met with members of the university’s Singapore Board of Directors and alumni representatives, including Wu Jiong, Guan Guoguang, and Shen Xi. President Ding introduced the university’s recent developments and shared thoughts on its future plans. He noted that 2026 will mark the 130th anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and sincerely invited alumni to return to their alma mater to celebrate this milestone together.
